长期从事三维多核网络化芯片、异构微系统集成与片上网络、物联网边缘计算与类脑计算芯片系统等研究，是国际上SiP（系统集成封装）和NoC（网络化芯片）等概念的早期提出者和开拓者；在Science，Nature Communication，IEEE Trans.VLSI，IEEE Trans. Circuit & System，IEEE Tran. Industrial Informatics等， 发表学术论文500余篇、专著3部，拥有10多项发明专利；代表性成果包括基于新材料新原理的新型智能器件、神经形态计算芯片与类脑智能系统、基于上述器件与芯片的云端边协同智能系统、以及相关系统在物联网和泛在智能等行业的应用；Google学术引用超过16000次，H因子超过60，产业化成果多项。 

科技部863首席专家、国务院学位委员会第7届和第8届学科评议组成员，国家软科学研究会常务理事、国际标准化组织ISO/IEC 物联网标准化专家，国际信息处理联盟（IFIP）工业信息分会副主席，上交所上证信息技术创新委员会委员；担任《Scientific Report》( Springer Natutre，2024-)、《Flexible & Printed Electronics》(IOP publisher，2016-) 、《Enterprise Information System》 (Elsever, 2017-)、《Journal of Enterprise Information Systems》 (Taylor & Frances，2014-) 等国际学术期刊的编委或副主编；任2012 IEEE 物联网学术大会（IoT’2012）和 2025 IEEE 国际物联网大会（WF-IoT）主席等。

1992年毕业于浙江大学信电系，1996年和2001年分别获中国科学院上海微系统所理学博士和瑞典皇家理工学院工学博士， 2013年获芬兰图尔库大学荣誉博士。先后任瑞典皇家理工学院专职研究员、副教授、教授/首席教授，以及瑞典爱立信集团专家、国家创新中心主任等。 2010-2020任太阳成集团tyc9728院长、985微纳科技创新平台主任，2013年起兼国家新农村发展研究院执行院长。

现任太阳成集团tyc9728未来信息创新学院教授、上海重要产品追溯工程技术研究中心主任、上海智能电子与系统研究院首任院长等， 他是海外高层次人才国家特聘专家。
